About the radio: This is a "screen grid" TRF radio. Screen grid tubes, or "Tetrodes", eliminated the feedback problem of triodes. Tubes could be built with higher amplification, which allowed building radios with fewer tubes thus lowering costs.
This set uses only 4 tubes to do the same job as the 6 tube Crosley Gembox. It still has a log number dial (1-100)
but has a built in dynamic speaker. |

The chassis restoration required a new antenna coil from Antique Electronic Supply along with the usual re-cap. It could use a speaker re-coning. |
